This Holy Moment

This was inspired by a holy moment in the arms of nature yesterday, watching the eagles soar.

This Holy Moment
Lynda Allen

All that is, all that was, all that ever will be,
All in this Holy moment.
I am as one with all
in this Holy moment.
The universe and its intricate dance,
discovered in this Holy moment.
The cacophony of life,
heard in the wind, the cars, the birds,
the voices raised, the crickets and the rushing waters,
harmonized into a symphony
in this Holy moment.
My heart opened, and the Divine revealed
in this Holy moment.

The Gifts of God Prayer

I pray that we will not live in fear.

When you look at me what do you see? The other?
Do you see my hair, my skin color, my gender, my age, my weight, my freckles, my place of origin?
Have you ever looked at me and seen God, God expressing as a curly haired, middle aged, white girl with Italian heritage and freckles from Jersey?
What if what I am is just God embodying a vessel we call Lynda?
How would you see me then if you knew that?
How would I see you if I knew God was expressing as you?
Then imagine if we were all aware of the source of our expression and so we knew we were looking through the eyes of God?
Then the Divine in me would be looking at the Divine in you.
Namaste.
What if we all lived from that place? That is my prayer for us all, for the Universe.

May we all see with the eyes of God gifted to us.
May we all breathe the breath of God gifted to us.
May we all love with the heart of God gifted to us.
May we all speak with the voice of God gifted to us.
May we all listen with the hearing of God gifted to us.
May we all choose with the wisdom of God gifted to us.
May we all walk the path of God gifted to us.
May we all touch with the tenderness of God gifted to us.
May we all weep with the empathy of God gifted to us.
May we all interact with the compassion of God gifted to us.
May we all celebrate with the joy of God gifted to us.
May we all sing with the harmony of God gifted to us.
May we all pray with the peace of God gifted to us.
May we all live with the Grace of God gifted to us.
May we all shine with the light of God gifted to us.
May we all Be the gift of God to each other.

Amen

Three Candles

This is how I felt yesterday in relation to the shootings in Connecticut. May the light shine brightly tonight and every night.

Three Candles

Words cannot fill a heart that has drained of life.
Words cannot recreate the color in a cheek.
Words cannot open an eye that has closed.
Words cannot utter the unspeakable grief.
So I lit three candles.
I don’t know why the
re were three,
one was too lonely, and two was not enough.
So I lit three candles,
as my heart ached and my tears fell.
I poured water beneath one candle
for the healing it represents
hoping it would be felt.
So I lit three candles
trusting that somehow the light would carry
to the places that now seem so dark.
I wish I had a million candles to light tonight.
I would create a circle of light to surround our planet,
to encircle my human family,
to illuminate all the darkness.
So I lit three candles,
to create just one moment for us to all stand in the light.
A moment to see each other
and know we are not alone,
to see that our hearts beat together in our sorrow,
as they can beat together again one day in joy.
One moment for us all to stand in the light
and see that they are all our children,
that we all grieve to the core of our being
for the lights we have lost,
as we can heal together for the sake of those lights.
So I lit three candles,
My breath shallow, my cheeks damp, my heart heavy,
And I looked at those lights and I prayed.
I prayed for more lights.
I prayed for an inferno fueled by love,
A fire bright enough to be seen by the angels,
Hot enough to warm a heart cold with sorrow,
Strong enough to kindle a spark.
So I lit three candles
And I prayed.

Pledge of Peace and Love ~ Day 12

Today began with a small act of both peace and love. The reminder to begin it that way came a year or two ago. I think it was summertime when a praying mantis came to visit. It sat on the screen door of my house for a couple days. It stayed long enough for me to start to think that maybe it had some wisdom it wanted to share. I decided to sit in meditation near it and listen to see what it had to say. It turned out it had a lot to say.

Here is what the praying mantis shared as I sat quietly:
Prayer. Be in a constant state of prayerfulness. Be always with an open heart, and words are not necessary for prayer. Prayer is a state of being more than a combination of words spoken. It is the flow of love from the heart returning to its Source. Be always praying, not with words but with deeds, with actions, always moving from the stillness of love within. Then you are moving in prayerfulness. Pray unto love. Pray without ceasing. Be prayer, be communion with Spirit. Let each look, each word, each action be your prayer. Prayer is a joyful state of being, for prayer celebrates the connection within to the Source. Be a living prayer.

Besides these words, what I carried with me from that day was the idea of beginning each day prayerfully, in full awareness of Spirit. I try to remember that each day before I get out of bed. I don’t always succeed. Today I remembered and it was a beautiful way to begin the day, centering myself in the silence of peace and love.
